final field trip

Guess where E & Me went yesterday??Yup, the ocean. The final field trip for the preschool was yesterday. The ocean and the Children's Museum. We went to a small beach with great rocky spots with tide pools. The rocky spots were just the right size for preschoolers. No one fell and hurt themselves. We found lots of hermit crabs and snail guys, but no regular crabs. A couple of hours and the kiddos were ready for lunch. Photo first.......Can you find E?

#2

Tooth # 2 is out. This time E just wanted to let it fall out by itself. No one could convince him to pull it.
Finally when it was just barely in there, he removed it!!
The tooth fairy left him the same money for the second as the first. E was pretty irritated that the second one wasn't worth more.

13

We celebrated M's 13th birthday over the weekend. We always combine his birthday celebration with a Memorial Day get together.
Lots of fun, lots of food, lots of laughing and swimming. This is M with cousins P and L pretending they jumped out of a plane. They're trying to do that holding hands, floating thing.See................almost looks like the real thing!! I like it when they act silly.

On Thursday night after M's track meet, L had a concert.La La La.........................A good thing about L being short, she's always in the front row. Green dress.A group of boys did a number, "Men in tights." Extremely funny!!!!!
They all do such a good job. It was fun, but a very long day/night.

every year

We go through this every year. The kids are hot, they can't stand it, they're not going to make it....................if they don't go swimming. The cover is off but that's it. "It's ok, we won't get any water in our mouths."Yesterday wasn't even all that nice. I had a fleece jacket on. But they were "sweating." Well, they're not sweating now!! Do you think M could suck his stomach in any further??

They thought it was GREAT. Crazy kids!

wednesday

L had a good meet yesterday. Didn't clear the bar in pole vault. But her coach said she has good form. And she beat her time in the mile!!! Always improving, that girl. The plant I think might be an allium has a bud.
It is suddenly pouring out. I look out the front window, I see blue skies. The back window, not blue skies. I guess that means it's a shower.
E's last day of school is June 9th. He has been wound up at school for about a month. His teacher said that all the older boys seem to be "very energetic". I believe it....................

nothing

I've really got nothing this morning. I like to have pictures with my posts. Pictures as inspiration. But I don't have any new pictures. So........nothing!!(How about some sprouting rhubarb that I moved from the old house.)

M had a track meet yesterday, only two schools. He did really well. L has a meet today. She got mentioned in the Bridgton News as a "hidden lady gem uncovered at LR track meet." In the article she's named as one of the girls who keeps improving her personal time in the 800m.

Then M has a meet Monday and L has a meet Tuesday. There are only about 5-6 meets total. They're really cramming them in for some reason. I guess the meets have to be done before school is over.

working hard

Mother's Day present from the kids. E was very proud of himself for picking it out.The rest of the day was spent at the barn, cleaning. We had to move all the cows, all the panels and all the poo & hay. (Good thing we have access to a loader. That would have been a lot of shoveling.) Then rearrange all the panels and cows.I'm not sure who E is going to lasso?? Good action shot though. Barbara and Winslow in the background waiting to go out.Two of the cows had other plans, so out came the real lasso. Doesn't M look so excited!!
I bet you didn't spend your mothers day like that!!
Yesterday when I went to pick L up from track practice.........................I saw this.
Then some pointers from coach.......................
Then........................
Yes, blurry, but she made it!! That was over 5 feet, but not quite 6 feet!!
And she's only 5'1" ish.
She said she might try it in Tuesday's meet. Yikes!!

L's turn

Both L and M had a track meet yesterday. I went to L's.Above is the 800 meter. And below is the 4 x 800 meter. She also ran the 4 x 400, which she doesn't enjoy at all. One of the competing teams was Freeport. Guess who was on the inside of the track with a timer and yelling out pointers??
Joan Benoit-Samuelson!! Miss Marathon herself....................she's tiny!!

random again

Bunnies at E's preschool.

There are four other babies plus Mom, but this one thought he was the most photogenic. They've named him Gopher.

Our sign is finally up. I think it looks great!!

random rain

We had a rainy cold weekend, so we got nothing accomplished. Here's some random-ness.So, this is some pretty sock yarn I got at the sheepfest we went to a while back.
This was my alarm this morning. He's a tom and must have been calling to the ladies. By the time I got up he 'd put his tail feathers down, but was still prancing back and forth.
The crocus mystery..................crocus leaves mixed in with something else.
And these are not hyacinths. I think they might be alium. I recall planting bulbs. I recall wanting to have giant alium. I guess we'll see.

first track meet

M had his first track meet yesterday. While he was waiting for his first event, the hurdles. He kept saying that he wasn't going to do well, that he was going to fall, that he would probably stink at hurdles, etc. Over and over my pessimistic child said these things. I finally said, "Would you STOP saying those things, you're going to jinx yourself."Finally, it was his turn and he got a super start, well ahead of the other boys. He got to the first hurdle and SPLAT, he fell. It was a really good one as falls go. I figured he'd get up and head to the sidelines. But he didn't, he got up and...............

looked a little nervous on hurdle number 2, but......................he caught up with the other hurdlers. He came in last in his heat but caught up after that awful fall.
The high school track team has to "work" the middle school track meets. So L was doing paperwork. She really wanted to anounce things on the loudspeaker, but the mic was broken!! She looks bored, but she wasn't. The look is because I was taking her picture!!This is what she was doing to E. Such a pretty girl!!
It was a good first meet, but soooooooooo COLD.
